Girls Bedroom Reveal
Its finally done! I’m so excited that I finished my daughters bedroom. It took a little while because nearly everything in the room was a DIY. From painting, to putting up wallpaper, to making the curtains/cornices and the bookshelves… this room was definitely a labor of love for my girls!
My daughters main request was that the room be PINK, so I made sure there was a lot of that! From the walls to the ceiling to the rug on the floor… PINK was the goal.
I used more of a “coral-like” pink from Sherwin Willams called “Mellow Coral” after choosing the wallpaper. The shade paired beautifully with the chinoiserie print wallpaper which allowed me to just use the wallpaper on the main wall. I’m not usually a fan of doing only ONE wall in wallpaper but because this was a mural with no repeat… I made an exception. Plus it saved money to spend on the furniture etc. I decided to paint the ceiling which if you can believe it… really did make the ceiling feel taller. These are 9 ft ceilings and because the color continued from the wall to the ceiling you eye doesn’t have a hard stop… and really did make the ceiling feel taller. (see example pic below)
I have always loved the idea of doing dual canopy beds for the girls…plus they call them “princess beds” so win-win. These were priced great and I love the neutral fabric contrast with the wallpaper. I decided to bring out some of the green from the wallpaper and add some darker contrast to the room with a dark green nightstand between the beds.
Originally I wasn’t going to make the bookshelf… I had actually already bought one for the room. But the plain white wall shelf was not cutting it! I decided to DIY some cute wall shelves to bring in some more green. (Pink and Green together are my FAVORITE if you can’t tell)
The stripe curtains I was always planning to make because I was SET on making a cornice for the first time. I have definitely made my share of curtains through the years…. but this was my first cornice. I wanted to add some drama to the room so I picked a large green stripe taffeta fabric from ebay that turned out to be perfect. It was the perfect final touch to the room…
Hope you enjoy this room transformation! I loved creating this space for my lil girls and seeing their faces light up when they finally saw it all completed :) Below you will find the links for all the items used in room.
